Monthly Meeting – July 25th @ 10:30 a.m.

Dr. Brian Couey

 

“Risk and Trajectory: emerging drugs affecting adolescent population, identifying high-risk youth, and the importance of prevention and early intervention.”

A presentation on emergent drug trends affecting adolescents and young adults, how to identify young persons who exhibit vulnerability to future addiction and mental health issues, and how professionals and caregivers can intervene to change the trajectory of at-risk persons.

Dr. Brian Couey is the Director of the San Diego Betty Ford Center. He earned his doctorate and master’s degrees in clinical psychology from the California School of Professional of Psychology in Los Angeles. Most of his career was spent in Los Angeles where he worked in leadership roles for community-based service providers such as Tarzana Treatment Centers, Cri-Help, San Fernando Community Mental Health, and Valley Women’s Center. He is a guest instructor at UCSD’s addiction studies program and is an instructor and supervisor for the UCSD Addiction Psychiatry Fellowship.
