Nicholaus is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with extensive experience and training in the treatment of youth and young adults with mental illnesses and substance use disorders. He is going to share insights into how to help facilitate change in young adults by integrating their family into their treatment.

When it comes to helping youth and young adults, Nicholaus believes in the mantra: “The Family is the Medicine.” His training as a therapist and supervisor, as well as his years of experience, have assisted parents and their children of all ages come together to correct maladaptive behavior, learn more effective coping skills, and heal from life’s hurts.

Nicholaus is responsible for the oversight of clinical treatment and case management programming for all levels of care at several Benchmark Transitions locations. He has created and implemented treatment programming, community outreach, risk management, policies and procedures, efficiency and believes in a positive staffing culture with appropriate accountability and support.
