It is our great honor to host activist Jodi Barber, a truly passionate individual whose work has, without a doubt, saved many lives.
Jodi Barber is a mother, advocate and the Executive Producer of the film, Overtaken, a documentary with young adults sharing their stories about drug and alcohol addiction and about her late son who overdosed on prescription drugs at the age of 19 in 2010. She turned her tragedy into an opportunity to help other parents who may be on the verge of losing loved ones due to the drug epidemic that is ravaging our youth today.
In an effort to educate communities across America about the dangers of prescription drug abuse, Jodi has been made her voice known by traveling to Sacramento multiple times to speak at Senate hearings, organize community events, produce public television service announcements, share her story on several media outlets including her guest appearances on talk shows such as HLN’s Dr. Drew and Dr. Oz.
Jodi and Christine Wood, co-produced Overtaken, which is now used in schools, rehabs, courtrooms, and DUI programs across the nation. As a sequel to Overtaken, Overtaken 2 offers a message of hope to families who are struggling with the disease of addiction. Jodi’s message to future generations is this: Through hard work and effort, you can succeed. Life is a gift. Live it to its fullest! As long as you’re walking, talking and breathing, there is HOPE
